DOJ Record Correction Lawsuit
The pursuit of timely corrected CORI...
Background
The California Dept. of Justice is tasked with keeping correct and updated CORI (Criminal
Offender Record Information) on individuals who have been arrested or convicted of California
crimes.

CORI files with incorrect information can destroy someone's chance at a job, housing, volunteer
service, and many other important parts of life.

While California law allows people to request that the DOJ correct inaccuracies and, where
allowed, expunge past records of convictions, the DOJ is often very slow in reviewing and
responding to requests.  Further, various DOJ policies (or the lack thereof) increase the
paperwork and processing times of correction requests without any discernable benefit.

This website seeks to serve as a clearing house for those seeking change in the DOJ's
processing policies and response times.
